Connect your own domain

Put your store on a domain you own, such as deshibazar.com. Add the domain, point its DNS at eCommFly, verify it and make it your main address.

Every store gets a free address on .ecommfly.shop, such as deshibazar.ecommfly.shop, and it keeps working whatever you do. You can also put your store on a domain you own, such as deshibazar.com or shop.deshibazar.com.

You need a domain from a registrar such as Namecheap, GoDaddy or Cloudflare, and access to its DNS settings.

1. Add the domain

  1. Go to Settings → Domain and select Add Domain.
  2. Enter the Domain, such as deshibazar.com or shop.deshibazar.com. Leave out https:// and anything after the domain.
  3. To add the www version as well, turn on Add www.deshibazar.com also.
  4. Select Add Domain.

The domain is listed as Pending Verification, and a Connect your domain box shows the DNS record to add for it.

A domain can be connected to only one eCommFly store. If another store already uses it, you’ll see “The domain has already been taken.”

2. Point the domain at eCommFly

Sign in where you bought the domain and open its DNS settings. First, remove any A, AAAA or CNAME records with the same name, such as a parking page your registrar set up. Then add one of these records, not both:

Type Name Value
CNAME The part before your domain, such as shop or www bd.ecommfly.com
A @, for the domain itself The IP address shown in Settings → Domain

The Connect your domain box shows the exact name and value for each of your domains, with a button to copy them.

  • For a subdomain, such as shop.deshibazar.com or www.deshibazar.com, add the CNAME record.
  • For the domain itself, such as deshibazar.com, most registrars don’t allow a CNAME record, so add the A record. If yours offers an ALIAS, ANAME or CNAME flattening record, you can use that with bd.ecommfly.com instead.
  • On Cloudflare, set the record’s Proxy status to DNS only, with the grey cloud, until the domain is verified. eCommFly can’t verify a proxied record. You can turn the proxy back on afterwards: see Use the Cloudflare proxy.

Most registrars add your domain to the name for you. Enter shop, not shop.deshibazar.com, or the record ends up as shop.deshibazar.com.deshibazar.com.

3. Verify the domain

eCommFly checks the domain’s DNS as soon as you add it, so if the record is already in place, the domain is active straight away. Otherwise, select Verify DNS next to the domain once you’ve added the record. DNS changes usually apply within minutes but can take up to 48 hours.

When the check passes, the domain becomes Active and your store opens on it. eCommFly sets up its HTTPS certificate for you, so there’s nothing to buy or install.

Use the Cloudflare proxy

Once the domain is Active, you can turn Cloudflare’s proxy back on:

  1. Open your store at https:// and your domain, such as https://deshibazar.com, while the record is still DNS only. This sets up the domain’s HTTPS certificate.
  2. In Cloudflare, go to SSL/TLS and set the encryption mode to Full (strict). With Flexible, your store won’t load.
  3. In DNS, set the record’s Proxy status to Proxied, with the orange cloud.

The domain stays verified with the proxy on.

4. Choose your primary domain

The first custom domain you add becomes your Primary domain. It’s the address eCommFly uses for your store’s links, such as the product links in the catalog feeds that Meta and Google read. Until the primary domain is active, those links use your free .ecommfly.shop address.

To change it, select Make Primary next to another active domain. Your free address and your other domains keep working.

To use both deshibazar.com and www.deshibazar.com, add both, point each one at eCommFly, and make the one you prefer primary.

Remove a domain

Select the delete button next to the domain. You can’t delete your primary domain while you have other custom domains: make another one primary first.

Removing a domain from eCommFly doesn’t change its DNS. Delete the record at your registrar too if you no longer want it.

If the domain won’t verify

  • Check the record. A CNAME value must be exactly bd.ecommfly.com, and an A value must be the IP address shown in the dashboard.
  • Look for old records. Another A, AAAA or CNAME record with the same name stops the domain from verifying.
  • Turn off the Cloudflare proxy. Set the record to DNS only until the domain is verified.
  • Wait a little longer. Your registrar may take time to publish the change, and old records can be cached for a few hours.
